03 / Artist texts
My work is an inquiry into images and into myself. I am interested in how a single form can hold several meanings. A figure can be human and animal at the same time; an everyday object can retain its identity while becoming strange. Humor, tenderness and unease coexist in these relationships. I work between control and chance. I draw, paint, erase, cross out and assemble, allowing materials to alter my decisions. Cardboard, ceramics and painting offer different kinds of resistance and lead me to discover possibilities I had not anticipated. Lines and eyes reappear in paintings, ceramics and objects, connecting works made at different times. Materials become extensions of myself. Through them, I explore memory, my inner world and the places I have lived. For me, art is discovery and recognition: a way of approaching what I feel and cannot always express in words.
